I know that this isn’t how it actually works, but in my opinion, if you didn’t want to help the people, then don’t let them in in the first place. Once you let them into your country as refugees you’re responsible for their safety, like your own citizens. Figure a way out for that relationship to be beneficial to both parties. This just shows that they’re short sighted, and didn’t actually care about well being of the refugees.
Erm, did you miss the part where the Russians were running “whites-only” businesses that turned away the native population? Yeah, you gotta care about the refugees, but they also gotta meet you halfway.
They let them in on extended tourist visas. Some are now violating the conditions.
If they were actually throwing out people who had applied for asylum as refugees, then it would be right to criticize them but they never agreed to take these people long term.
