Old School Runescape forces you to change your character into a girl to complete a quest. You can easily change back afterwards, but I never did for some reason.
they actually changed that back in 2022. previously, you had to fight a knight blessed by the gods so that no man could harm him, so you would have to change your character to a woman in order to harm him. however they changed it so now no blade can harm him, and the player is given four different weapons, where one of them is a warhammer, allowing him to be defeated (since it doesn’t have a blade)
In a world of magic i don’t really see how it does.
I am a cis male who likes his pronouns but i recognize myself much more fluid then most. Theres a type of frilly dress and shoes I really like that i think would look really good if i grew out my beard.
My point is if i could take such a potion to chose biological gender features i probably by in bulk to spend the odd day relaxing at a wellness looking pretty while doing it.
I never encountered this quest but i could see it act as a subtle nudge for people to discover that there identity isnt so black and white as our sex makes
it seem.
I fully agree with this sentiment as a trans person. I could very much see this quest ‘cracking someone’s egg’ (i.e. realising they’re trans).

I have a friend that’s a cis man who has a gorgeous beard and likes to be fluid with his presentation as well. He loves wearing cute dresses and mary jane’s, and always has rlly pretty nails.
You should absolutely rock that look. I’m really here for people wearing whatever makes them the most happy, the concept of gendering clothes is just dumb.
that’s actually a pretty cool, it gives me a weird game idea/mechanic - you turn into the opposite gender of what you picked for a quest, or until the end of the game, and your character also faces the extreme downsides that would have (gender dysphoria), and it could heavily effect your performance because of the mental strain
I mean, it sounds like having a quest where your character’s leg was chopped off. Like yes, it’s legit that this would make your life worse but I don’t think that’s the kind of challenge that people are looking for in a video game 😅
There’s an obscure SNES RPG (Secret of the Stars, I think it was called?) that has an armor you can equip to change the character’s sprite to a girl, and a quest where you have to equip that armor on all your male characters in order to enter an Amazon village.
Really liked that game, and that particular armor. Didn’t really understand why at the time.

Why?? The old version is amazing!
It implies being transgender is a choice though

If you want certain features, you do have options to get them. You can take estrogen and not do hair removal for example.
I am not comfortable with permanent and longer lasting changes, especially if they can effect my fertility.
The dream is to look the way i feel life for a particular day but keep my current form. Of which i am quite happy for 95% of the time.
Daang, I didn’t know they changed it. It makes sense that they would, but I’m still a little sad about it.

the game would not be for a broad audience, likely only to educate about what trans people go through
Translation: a game that won’t make any money. I doubt there are studios lined up to make this one.
money is not always the goal, and a studio would execute the idea in the worst way possible
