That’s because Threads’ entire userbase is baked into an app that almost everyone already has. It says absolutely nothing about the quality or featureset of the app, much less scalability and actual use.

From personal use, I can tell you that the featureset is just not there. You can’t even sort by followed accounts only, or get chronological updates. It’s a hot turd sandwich.

Honestly, in the day and age, removing follows and chronological feeds sounds like an intentional move.

Consume more algorithm. Curate less content.

10 years ago YouTube was already fucking with subscriptions. We lost access to the History page on THREE separate occasions. I did not forget and it was just a sign of things to come. Every time I see anything come closer to resemble that kind of move, I always, always, assume wickedness rather than ineptitude.

I doubt they really have. Meta just imported all Instagram accounts into Threads and at the same time made it impossible to delete your new account, without deleting yours on Instagram as well.

I guess many people created an account to try but we need to wait to see the number of user stabilize.

Also, it seems the only way to emove your Threads account is to remove your instagram account …

I’m actually enjoying talking to people I know on Threads ngl. I can’t wait till they bring fediverse support and I can talk to them through Mastodon (the less info I give them directly the better).

Hahaha, if it makes you feel better, I’ll most likely just abandon Threads after they integrate with ActivityPub. It will be nice to talk to my friends in a Twitter type environment as no one really used Mastadon let alone Twitter.

**<gives honest opinion on something, gets downvoted>

I agree, honestly. Most of my friends will never be interested in something like Mastadon. I’d have to talk to them via Facebook anyhow, and I’m interested to see how this plays out.

Zucks poor attempt to connect his Meta bullshit with the fediverse. It’s desired to be a Twitter replacement which uses the ActivityPub-Protocol and therefore is able to communicate with fediverse instances (which use the same protocol). So basically it’s the same as Mastodon, just with Zucks closed source corporate crap.

Which is a way I’m assuming to data mine every user on the fediverse. Safe to say that anyone that connects to the fediverse via Threads will essentially expose all Non Threads user to the Meta data miners?

No, that’s not how it works at all. All of your public posts are already public anyway, Threads doesn’t need to be involved for literally anyone to go through all of your posts right now.

That’s true, but why should they be happy with your posts only, if they can also make you pay (with your data, for Threads users) for services, which were always free at Mastodon?!

I get what you mean but I’m not sure how clever it really is to just copy the old EEE strategy from Microsoft.

All I think of when I see the name, apart from Meta and Zuchbot 3000, is nuclear war and a woman pissing herself. Still undecided as to which is worse.
