US importing oil from Russia in order to sell more of their oil to Europe because they pushed a wedge in to stop Europe from buying oil from Russia.

This is the most efficient system.

Headline is misleading, which is assumed since the source article is literally fucking Pravda. There are no direct imports of Oil or Refined Petroleum from Russia to the United States. Those were and still are 100% banned.

What’s happening is that Russian Crude is being bought by other countries like India, mixed with non-Russian crude, and then THAT is being refined into Gasoline and Diesel fuel. Those fuels are then being sold by that country and brought to the United States.

You can read about it here - NPR.

There’s already a Bi-Partisan bill in front of Congress to stop it too.

Unfortunately for you the PBS link supports the other poster and disproves the headline. There is in fact NO oil coming from Russia to the United States.

If you’d be bothered to read your own link you’d learn that places like India are buying Russian crude, mixing it with crude from other places, then refining it into Gasoline and Diesel fuels. Countries like India are then selling those refined products, which are partially made with Russian Crude, and THAT is what’s being imported to the United States…along with a whole bunch of European Countries.

The headline is so misleading that dismissing it as fake is perfectly rational.

After reading your comment and I looked through the sources cited. Besides the initial source (i.e. linked article) being from a place I never heard, and the ‘increase’ in cost of oil purchased $74 → $76 (which, if I understand correctly, is a minor increase and doesn’t seem to take inflation into account; without calculating or knowing my sense is that it’s not meaningful) what part is ‘fake news’? I’m trying to understand and I don’t really get it.

The link and info stated in the linked article which links to Foreign Policy is legitimate from what I can tell. I skimmed it, and it seems completely in order.

Tbf, the NED does fund a lot of ostensibly ‘left’ publications. I was looking into an anti-imperialist third world paper after coming across an interview with someone who seemed quite radical. Only my instinct that 9/10 ‘left’/‘critical’ publications will be funded by the CIA led me to even check the affiliates and funders, where my suspicions were confirmed. You can see how an ordinary person would categorise some outlets as ‘left’ (not RFA, though, lol). That doesn’t excuse an outlet that proffeses special knowledge about media literacy.
