If people aren’t panicked, they wouldn’t elect panic-pandering politicians, so there must always be a panic — crime, drugs, commies, libruls, etc.

    I would guess you live in Philadelphia except here the cops aren’t even useful for insurance reports. I called them once to ask for a policeman to come do a VIN check on a bus I had just bought so I could get it registered, and the dispatcher said “nah” and hung up on me.
