By “here” I mean all of the Fediverse, but more specifically sh.itjust.works; I don’t want to cause any bad vibes in my new home instance.

I don’t NORMALLY post, and I’m limiting my access to Reddit in favor of Lemmy, but if stealing from the rich is acceptable, I’m happy to occasionally Robin Hood content over; I just prefer my theft to be within prevailing ethical guidelines.

    I’ve seen a few bots that literally just link to reddit which defeats the whole purpose of moving here???

    With that in mind, I wouldn’t mind if you had a backlog of reddit content you previously downloaded, because again… the point in moving to this platform was to stop giving reddit money. Like, yeah sure if you don’t post to reddit, you’re not providing an incentive for others to stay on the site but if enough people go to reddit for content, we’re just giving them money anyway via ads.

    I’m sure the majority of users won’t care regardless.

      But content could be moved here without giving them money using their free tier API. We’d just need to make a bot that downloads their best posts and puts them here.

      Personally, this seems like a good idea to attract more people… But it doesn’t feel organic.
