      That’s not really accurate, even if it’s not entirely inaccurate.

      The Winter War, like many Russian (Soviet) victories, was initially an exercise in bloodletting and embarrassment. The Stalinist purges lead the Red Army to be comically ill prepared for a winter invasion against a prepared Finnish defense (aided by Germany), but the war still ended with the Soviets gaining additional territory.

      *This is NOT intended as a parallel for any current events, just commentary on some historical ones.
