I remember when Vice was “bleeding-edge-unwavering-unapologetic-raw-insert-other-catchy-adjective news! The stories no one else has the genitals to cover!”

I never personally thought that but I’m pretty sure that’s what they wanted other people to think.

I remember when Vice didn’t even pretend to be news. They were just a free edgelord lifestyle magazine. Those were the days.

I still thought that. No idea they were ever considered a legitimate news medium.

I didn’t mean to imply they were ever a legitimate news medium. I’m just saying originally they didn’t even pretend to be news.

Maybe for profit journalism isn’t the best model. Anyone have a solution?

Good way to only get the US government approved perspective.

NPR gets almost no funding from the US government and regularly runs stories critical of said government. What are you talking about?

Lol it’s almost never critical of the US government. It will be critical of certain politicians and policies but rarely will they criticize the US foreign policy. Unless you consider puff pieces like this one for the CIA news you should seriously consider using other sources for foreign policy news.

They do one positive story about the CIA and therefore they’re in the government’s pocket? That’s a poor argument.

Much more than one. They are always on the side of the military industrial complex. So is the New York Times so it’s not just npr but acting like they are beyond reproach is dumb.
