With great fanfare earlier this month, the pioneering artificial intelligence company OpenAI unveiled its latest model, GPT-5, an AI system so advanced that using it was said to be like conversing with a Ph.d. It landed with a unsettling thud.

I think it’s concept is groundbreaking but usually new technology has a growth period before being shoehorned into things. We went from concept to being added to everything in a few short years. There was no time for it to grow and evolve and become efficient or sentient. It’s still a baby.
Not even. It went from sheer “hey, wouldn’t that be neat?” concept to full-on “EVERYTHING must be AI! EVERYTHING!!!” in like a year. They not only didn’t give it time to ferment and change into something good, they didn’t even TRY.
More to the point - it obviously isn’t ready and they don’t give a sweet goddamn.
Absolutely; they caught a WHIFF of “potentially unlimited profits” and just decided to FULL SEND without further thought. It will be satisfying to watch them burn for it.
