Same here … Ever see the inland lagoons where they farm these things in Vietnam and Thailand, they feed them chum with God knows what … the wild ones are no better because they live and thrive in basically ocean sewage dumping grounds

It’s like eating pork that are raised in the city’s waste disposal sites

there’s plenty of other reasons to not eat shrimp. from the CO2 emissions created from wild caught shrimp to the concerns about mangroves being cut down to make room. (this is not as true as it used to be,) to the use of slave labor.

Not trying to get preachy or anything- I certainly can’t claim to be the most environmentally-conscious eater. (I try. but damn steak is good. too. Now I’m craving surf n’ turf.)

Changing lifestyle habits can only be effective for an individual’s own health. To mask it as a step to contributing towards a healthier environment however is purely wishful thinking. I respect your lifestyle choices as an individual and of course people do need to adopt the principle of ‘use only as much as you need’ but do keep in mind that the major share of blame in the destruction of the environment lies in the incompetent and overtly greedful exploitation of the environmental resources done in the name of capital generation/profit under Imperialist-Capitalism.

This is not the place to debate veganism or make wild unfounded claims about veganism… Or vegans…

You know, just be nice to each other… For fucks sake.

Rough that you’re being downvoted. I’m not vegan myself because I can’t help but think if the rolls were reversed and I was the size of a shimp and a shimp was as big as a person that fucker would eat me in a heartbeat.

Why? It just sounds like you are setting up your followers for a world of hurt. The situation might align nicely with the rules at this moment but situations change.

One thing about Buddhism is the rule restrictions on food for the Monks is to go with the food of the area. Don’t demand special food and don’t refuse what others around you are eating. Which seems sensible enough.

How does eating goat vs shrimp reduse animal suffering? A goat is a lot more intelligent and social and has feelings. The dumber the animal you eat means the less misery. For example short of starvation I would never eat a primate.

Really not seeing your point of view here. Rules that are arbitrary by pure chance are going to get you what you want and this is good as opposed to rules that get you what you want.
