Somewhere on YouTube there’s a >hour long video of him just fucking around. One guitar, DI into an amp, at some small guitar store. And it’s straight up mystifying. I used to watch it back when I played like 5 hours a day.

Yeah I discovered IA and freak kitchen when I introduced Soilwork to a guitarist friend a long time ago and he pointed out that many of the really unique guitar solos were done by mattias and that freak kitchen existed.
I haven’t really listened to much of his stuff in the past decade though.
A friend of mine bought Ola Fenning’s guitar at auction. This same friend told me what your friend told you. Same reason I owned a Caparison guitar for some time.
