It is insane how even (read: especially) your parents are gonna casually tell you to compromise your entire brain into “normality” like that isn’t incredibly destructive. Telling someone to pretend something they’re not is way too normalized.

My almost total lack of organizational skills.

Also the unrelated memories I’m reminded of by words and phrases in a conversation. Otherwise I’d be constantly saying, “Ohh, there was a Firefly episode where Shepherd Book said what you just said. Another guy in it was also on Buffy one time.”

Everyone goes pee, but if you’re doing it 100 times a day, probably time to see a doctor.

This attitude doesn’t help people be able to express their issues.

Every single post like this has some selfish asshole leaving a comment like this. Is this how women feel when men invade their comms?

The point is that if you want people to relate, help them understand how it’s different. Autistic people get overwhelmed very easily via sensory overload. Being challenged by grocery shopping is not everyone’s experience. Pointing this out helps messaging. As opposed to leading with something that reads as an everyone experience.

But sure, call me names from your 6 day old account if that helps.

Oh please, you basically rephrased “everyone is a little autistic” which is practically the slogan of phobic behavior towards autists.

You were at negative 5 points when I called you an asshole. I just said what people were already thinking. You downplay the stresses associated with autism, and that’s where the downvotes come from.

It may not be what you intended, but if the majority are reading it differently can’t you just acknowledge that?

there’s a massive difference between tolerating things that you don’t like, V having to reshape your entire being so normal people don’t have to consider that people like you exist.

there’s a reason life expectancy for autism is so low, with high levels of suicide.
