From Zuhairi Avian

Simply breathtaking. The beauty and intensity of the Dusky Eagle-Owl. There’s a quiet power in this upward glance.

The more photos I’ve been getting of these, the more house cat I’m seeing in the face. Just look at this dapper little kitty!

The overall proportions are perfect for a house kitty. The shape of the head and the size and location of the eyes and ears. Switch the beak out for a nose, elongate the risk bristles, and whammo! Instant tabby.

Hah! I hope the kitten fairy stays away from me for a bit. She’s sleeping peacefully on my chest now, after terrorizing Senior and me until daylight. My hands, fingers and legs look like plowed fields. She’s being stubborn about learning gently playing, making me wonder how many generations of stray is in this little fluffbomb! By the by, she’s grown from a few oz to almost 3 lbs. I worked wormed her, thinking it would slow her down a bit. Not a chance! On the plus side, it didn’t cause intestinal distress, so that’s a plus.

How are you doing? Is your wedding this year?

Loving cats can be rough, literally! 😁

We’re getting married this November. I just booked our plane tickets for the honeymoon!

I want to rent a convertible and go around looking for Burrowing Owls!

I’m so excited for you both! I think both the convertible and owl hunting seems fun (and hopefully the missus will find it entertaining)! I hope you will post pictures of any you discover!

Owls aren’t even above chowing on other owls, should the opportunity arise! If it’s meaty, it’s good enough for them! Watch out, kitty!

What are you doing out during sunlight hours, Mr Owl? Go hide until such time as you can hunt nighttime animals or until somebody needs to know how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop.

Orange eyed owls tend to be able to do pretty well during the day, especially if it’s cloudier.

I don’t think it’s the hard and fast rule the Internet seems to repeat where yellow=diurnal(day), orange=crepuscular(dawn/dusk), and dark=nocturnal. The owls do what they want, and if you search which owls are nocturnal vs crepuscular or whatever, you’ll see people give different answers.

Great Horned Owls have yellow eyes, but you’ll see people debate if they’re nocturnal or crepuscular. Barred Owls have dark eyes, and again you’ll find people debating if they’re nocturnal or crepuscular.

There are plenty that do fit the formula though. But it’s not a rule. Just like lots of owls have asymmetrical ears to enhance their triangulation, but not all do. They’re all a unique combo and they’ll ultimately hunt when they have the best success in their particular environment.
