Hello, I’m looking for a movie and hope I’m right asking here. I can only remember one scene, seen it a long, long time ago as a teen, of this movie and it is driving me crazy that I can not find it.
It is an investigative/ action movie I think, a bit like mercury rising. So a cop dude taking care of a kid.
The scene: the kid is sorting paper on the floor of a room, seemingly random letters on them. Then the cop dude and maybe a woman go up some stairs, talking about the kid and they see that the paper is sorted to resemble the face of a woman.
I apologize for the lack of other information or if this is the wrong place to ask. Is anybody able to help me?

Mulder and Scully are investigating a girl’s alien abduction. Her little brother is watching static on TV and writing out binary on sheets of paper. Later, the pages are laid out on the floor in a big square. Scully goes up the stairs and looks down, revealing the pages were and image of the kid’s abducted sister.

This for sure was X-Files. My partner got into it recently and that’s one of the episodes I saw. Kid was getting messages in the static.
