    I’m guessing the intent is to use this intervention when the fetus is still very young, but it isn’t totally clear from the article.

            Oh, so fucking wrong. We could get engineered castes and bioeconomically stratified humanity, or an entire generation whose bodies just fall apart when they hit like age 30, or just lots of fun new cancers. Almost certainly at least one of those.

            But it won’t destroy the planet too easily, won’t murder truth, etc.

            So maybe a little less horror than usual. Plus it could also do some good things! Maybe! If we steal IP!
