Nope, it’s unhoused now! I can’t wait for 20 years from now when “unhoused” is suddenly considered an insult because reasons and we yet again need to invent another stupid word to refer to this. Houselessness, maybe?
Yes, just call it what it is: homelessness. There is nothing wrong with the word, it’s not insulting anyone, it just says what it is.
The dumbest part of the US’s “fuck you poor people, die in the gutter” approach to homelessness is that it’s more expensive than using a system to provide homes to people:

Children are especially vulnerable and costly to not provide housing to. The US is, at its core, an essentially a selfish and heartless nation. You can removed all you want about that stance, but a budget is a statement of your values. Those values don’t include helping people and they don’t include being cost effective, so what is being achieved here except paying more to be cruel to children and their families?

The cruelty is the point. Becoming homeless is a constantly looming threat for most people, so they need to keep working to afford a home (or rather rent one). This’ll keep them busy and fatiqued, which makes changing their situation a whole lot harder.
