That’s insane. No company should be allowed to produce that much waste. Yes, I mean that they should be responsible for the fact that all their clothes get thrown away.

Systemic issues are not appropriately solved at an individual level.

Make that a mantra and repeat it continuously

I’d disagree. Even from a pretty neoliberal kind of economics, fast fasion doesn’t factor environmental “externalities” (i.e. the cost doesn’t include environmental destruction) so it’s massively undepriced, which artificially punps up demand for fast fashion.

In other words, the issue is caused by the way the system is set up. I.e. it’s a systemic issue.

It’s also flimsy, disposable, and more often than not doesn’t fit properly. Tailored clothes offer you more bang per buck even if those appear to be more expensive at the first glance.

I’d say FOMO/need to keep up with monthly trends pumps up the demand more than just the price.

Yeah but ever talked to someone who orders drom temu and similar companies? Yeah it’s crap, but it’s cheap. I’ll just order one in 5 sizes, still cheaper than a normal shirt.

All these cheap garbage websites should be banned outright. Why do we need $1 childrens toys and kitchen utensils covered in lead paint? Or $1 fast fashion shit that will come in the wrong size anyways probably, and even if it doesnt, will probably fall apart faster than a piece of tissue paper?

      Fuck these garbage websites already

You want governments to ban websites like this by which method exactly? As far as we know they’re not doing anything illegal. Trust me, you don’t want government that bans stuff willy nilly.

Theyre selling all kinds of shit that is dangerous to American consumers. And everything that isnt is still junk that ends up in landfills. Its not willy nilly, and I very much want them banned.

They also take money away from American businesses. What exactly is the argument for why they should not be banned? Other than your vaguely libertarian outlook?
