Why don’t they just put colder batteries in
I guess this is the new planned obsolescence
Good news! It’s a requirement going forward.
I don’t see any indication of that here
On Pixel 9a, the feature is on by default and can’t be turned off.
But it’s done smartly with bypass (aka passtrough) where the battery is totally put offline at 80% and the device uses power from the USB plug only to run so you can leave the device plugged in for days on end and it doesn’t do anything to the battery. Older devices don’t have the BMS for that though.
What? This has nothing to do with charging bypass. This is artificially limiting the max charge of the battery to be less than when it was brand new.
This software adjusts the battery’s maximum voltage in stages. It starts at 200 charge cycles and continues gradually until 1000 charge cycles. This helps stabilize battery performance and aging.
As your battery ages, you may notice small decreases in your battery’s runtime. Based on adjusted capacity, Battery health assistance also tunes the phone’s charging speed. You may notice a slight change in battery charging performance.
When the fuck will it end? This is getting stupid. I was using my 4a as an MP3 player after i upgraded to the 6a, but it closes the player within 10 minutes EVERY TIME now, because that battery update basically chopped of 7 of the 8 limbs that thing had. I guess that’s e-waste now. Oh wait, i can switch over to my main device, that will for sure work as an MP3 player, because i payed 400 euro bucks for it.
#NOPE.
I guess being an MP3 player is only accessible for 25 euro devices that are not connected to the google borg collective. Stop fucking killing my phones you dickweeds, what the actual fuck.
Pixels have quite a few custom ROMs you can stuff on them ez solution.
Don’t custom ROMs also push Google’s software updates anyway?
Depends which ones. Graphene for instance doesn’t automatically push whatever Google does.
