Donald Trump’s “Border Czar” Tom Homan said Saturday the administration is planning to send in the National Guard Saturday evening to quell protests in Los Angeles.

“This is about enforcing the law, and again, we’re not going to apologize for doing it,” Homan said on Fox News. He continued: “We’re already ahead of the game. We were already mobilizing. We’re gonna bring National Guard in tonight. We’re gonna continue doing our job. We’re gonna push back on these people, and we’re gonna [enforce] the law.”

On Saturday night, following Homan’s on-camera remarks, both national Democratic and Republican figures were scrambling to figure out if he was just mouthing off, or if the federal troops were actually on their way, or just … what the hell was going on.

Two Trump administration officials say they learned about the alleged National Guard plans from journalists such as Rolling Stone’s who had reached out to them on Saturday evening, asking for clarification.

Homan did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.

“The federal government is moving to take over the California National Guard and deploy 2,000 soldiers,” California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) wrote on Bluesky Saturday evening. “That move is purposefully inflammatory and will only escalate tensions.”

He added, “LA authorities are able to access law enforcement assistance at a moment’s notice. We are in close coordination with the city and county, and there is currently no unmet need. The Guard has been admirably serving LA throughout recovery. This is the wrong mission and will erode public trust.”

The president can request, but not order, a governor to deploy their state’s National Guard. The governor can refuse the request, and Trump would not be allowed under the Constitution to send National Guard troops to California from other states. However, the Trump administration has previously mulled invoking the Insurrection Act, which could allow the president to deploy the U.S. military domestically, federalize the National Guard, and send in troops to quell uprisings or civil disorder.

Anyone able to confirm this? Tom Homan isn’t allowed to mobilize CA National Guard so… what’s going on over there?

No need, it will be in your neighborhood before you know it and you can take the pictures yourself.

I watched this whole 6hr stream yesterday evening into night while doing other things https://www.youtube.com/live/M2uW8on0vXs Can scroll it. Guy is switching between different people on the ground (on YouTube and then later kick and tiktok but TikTok is taking streamers down) not there himself but good footage. They made a barricade with dumpster and fridge etc and were chocking fireworks and rocks at the cops. Cops were shooting tear gas and flash and rubber bullets then put out a large roll of constetina wire and then rolled it along to reclaim. Later in the night reinforce rolled in and took it all over. There’s some more vehicle fires supposedly caused by the flash bangs (?).

I also switched around to a few others like socal shorts who got shot by rubber bullet and taken to hospital iirc

Note to any more recent readers of this thread:

The .world mods deleted my original comment because I accurately and correctly described that the US is an authoritarian fascist state, where the Federal government is free to break or make any law as they see fit, the law is whatever they say it is… and for also stating that, as verified by the history of fascism, the only way to effectively and directly resist such fascist’s use of capricious and arbitrary violence… is with violence.

They have decided to interpret this as an advocation of or for such violence, and removed the comment, despite me not using any phrasing that actually suggested one should engage in such violence. IE, the common definition of the word ‘advocate’.

This is because .world mods and admins are spineless hypocritical liberals, who are ok with allowing discussion of and descriptions of violence perpetrated by any official state backed entities, but cannot allow discussion or description of any other kind of violence which may threaten the apparatus of the state, regardless of how dubious in justification or extreme in nature such state-backed violence is.

      EDIT:

To add further context to the situation, noted alcoholic, leaker of classified military intelligence, and current Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is threatening to send in the United States Marine Corp to Los Angeles.

      https://townhall.com//tipsheet/katiepavlich/2025/06/07/hegseth-threatens-to-send-the-marines-if-la-riots-continue-n2658375

“The violent mob assaults on ICE and Federal Law Enforcement are designed to prevent the removal of Criminal Illegal Aliens from our soil; a dangerous invasion facilitated by criminal cartels (aka Foreign Terrorist Organizations) and a huge NATIONAL SECURITY RISK,” Hegseth warned on X Saturday night. “Under President Trump, violence & destruction against federal agents & federal facilities will NOT be tolerated. It’s COMMON SENSE. The [Defense Department] is mobilizing the National Guard IMMEDIATELY to support federal law enforcement in Los Angeles. And, if violence continues, active duty Marines at Camp Pendleton will also be mobilized — they are on high alert.

      Good luck and godspeed, everyone.
