Episcopal church is the one where they regularly have a rainbow flag sign that says “all are welcome” outside. They’re pretty nice folks so far as churches go.

I’ve just read through their wiki page and you’ve right, not sure why I had the Episcopal church as a quite conservative place in my mind but I won’t make the mistake again. Thanks.

So they’ll help refugees for decades, but the moment a white refugee exists, they shut it all down?

    Really?

    That’s just bizarre.

The Church had been in the US Refugee Resettlement program under the State Dept with l2-13 other faith based groups. Trump stopped all assistance and funding after taking office. These groups have been self-funding the program but from the US side its been shuttered.

Then Trump admin demanded that the Episcopal Church’s org because they received federal grant money will have to accept these admin described “apartheid” victims when the Church was involved with helping to challenge the real actual apartheid government.

The Church finds that insulting and also working with the refugees the Trump admin abandoned. This state program has helped with refugees from across the globe including the Episcopal Church.

I think the point is nobody thinks there really are white Afrikaner refugees. Trump is just trying to promote racism, not help refugees. Strange for someone who hates DEI so much that he’s requiring helping those who don’t need help under that thinking.

Of course genuine refugees of any creed, colour or sexual or gender orientation should be helped. The problem here is subverting a refugee program for political point scoring and racism.

      Remember Bishop Desmond Tutu?

The Anglican (sister church to US Episcopal) Church in South Africa has direct experience with Apartheid and the behavior of White South AfriKKKans, they know the claim of refugee status is bullshit. Loss of undeserved privilege is not oppression.

And all the rest of the program has already been shut down by the Trump government. No refugees have been allowed and the money has been cut. Including the money previously spent by the church and owed back to them by the government.

      Edited for accuracy
