I gave up trying to keep up in 2016 when my PC was struggling to play Dark Souls III.

I’ve only played indie games since and I don’t miss AAA games.

First game I played after buying a 4070 card? Some indie game with minimal graphics. Oh well. Got some good use out of it later with baldurs gate 3 :)

Same, my computer is from 2017 and outdated but due to tariffs a brand new one is tabled for the foreseeable future. So I’ll just get the best CPU (and a new cooler) I can get from Ebay that fits my socket (that will support Windows 11), and then when W10 is unsupported, switch to Arch. I expect to make the order this Wednesday.

This is why I don’t understand the PC master race, sure your games look better on your pc than my pa5, but your pc cost x3 the price so yeah

We can run the same games at the same settings on an equally priced PC as your ps5.

It is because we are the masterrace that we can increase the quality if we feel so inclined.

And run multiple OS, multiple monitors, not tied to any proprietary online service or store, tons of peripherals, fully customizable look, etc.

It’s not just gaming you get for the $. You get choices and lots of functionality.

What they’re saying is that the lower cost of games balances out the cost of the PC. Accessories are cheaper too, and there’s no subscription fees to play online.

And like another person pointed out, you can spend the cost of a PS5 on a PC and you will get similar performance. You only have to pay more if you want better graphics than what the PS5 can do. It really is that simple.

lol now we’re pretending we have to buy a new tv to own a console? I mean I can add random items to the steam deck price too, computer monitor $200, wireless game pad $100, joystick grips $10! It’s silly isn’t it?

No you can’t? Do you even know what the steam deck is? It’s a hand held gaming device, like the Nintendo Switch. Adding a computer monitor to the steam decks price tag is nonsensical. Like the Switch you’d be using a TV if your hooking it into something. A wireless controller? Why? It’s a steam deck it has a controller built in. Joystick grips? The fact you think those are needed goes to show how shit the standard console controllers are lmao.

                  Fair 🤷

We can do the same with steam sales, itch games, games downloaded from Patreon.

A PC will always be the best gaming platform, this doesn’t mean it’s for everyone though.

You’re locked into a box with very minimal choices for upgrading, you can custom build a pc based on your budget and get better results and more freedom with a pc.

The pro is that every game marked ps5 I know for a fact will run on my console. I would never buy a gaming pc and constantly throw even more money at it to upgrade it. I don’t have to trouble shoot or adjust settings or adjust my pc so I can run the games without issue. It’s just more convenient, i game on console cause it works for me, i don’t see the need for downvotes, that’s just fragile.

It’s also funny how steam people are all “graphics isn’t everything” while also saying “my machine runs better graphics than yours”

Also with what a ps5 costs I can get a gaming pc that will run maybe Sims 3 or ps3 level games, where I live a gaming pc that compares to A ps5 goes for roughly $2k I have no idea where you guys are getting gaming pcs that are cheaper than a ps5 and no im not interested in building a PC anymore than I’m interested in going to a fancy restaurant where I have to cook for myself

Until you’ve paid hundreds of dollars into using your own internet to play online (on servers your console company doesn’t even pay for)

nah, it’s only if you are to lazy to learn. i bet i can play more games on a budget pc than on a ps5, even with integrated graphics nowadays, because PC’s have a back catalogue from the last 4 decades, and thats before getting into emulation of classic consoles like NES, Megadrive and a lot more platforms.

Consoles are just good for switching your brain off, which is a valid reason to get one. But the price of 5 console games gives you enough wiggle room to get a decent graphics card which will run pretty much everything you want, and it will do so for the forseeable future.

          I didn’t downvote you lmao

Owning and keeping a pc working is not hard, and I can run any game I want to lol

Just because you don’t have the headspace available to own and operate a pc doesn’t mean others can’t do so.

Enjoy your walled garden and 30fps

Edit: you said you didn’t understand and I gave you a brief explanation and then you are saying “ree downvotes + I like convenience + pc costs too much”

          Pc > console
