[this is a 2-part article, the first is very short and is about the Hamas-US deal.]

"#Hamas and the United States announced an agreement today that will lead to the freeing of #Israeli soldier Edan Alexander, a dual #American citizen, ahead of President #DonaldTrump’s trip to the region. #Israel was reportedly not involved in the discussions, but informed about the deal afterward. "

[The second, much longer part, :] “[Michigan AG] Dana Nessel continues to do damage control in the wake of her failed prosecution of student protesters at the University of Michigan…This week, in public remarks on the prosecution, she claimed without evidence that Democratic Rep. Debbie Dingell of Michigan had been the one who urged her to charge students involved in protests over Gaza.”

Since November, I’ve been cautiously hopeful that Trump might improve the situation in Gaza. I’m no Trump fan, but I think sitting down with Hamas is a step in the right direction…

Prior to the election, Trump had previously made veiled statements basically saying Israel/Netanyahu was the problem, not Palestinians or Hamas. Given Trump’s personality, I’m sure he doesn’t like getting bossed around by Bibi. Then again… They probably have Epstein Island in Trump’s intelligence dossier

Trump’s interests are monetary and idolization, not ideological. I could definitely see Trump ally more with Saudi Arabia over Israel if he thinks it makes himself look good, and I could definitely see SA be more willing than Israel to do what Trump wants. He has absolutely no problem with the genocide itself, but there is the off chance that his narcissism could end up helping Palestinians. I hope that’s the case, but I won’t hold my breath. There are plenty of Christian Zionists in his cabinet that only want to accelerate the genocide. Trump really is like a Russian Roulette, it’s impossible to know what he’ll do

I think this is also great speculation and absolutely spot on in both your “Russian roulette” point and making other about money. Maybe Bibi threatened to block Trump from wetting his beak in Gaza so he “picked up his ball and stomped home”

Related: I do wonder why liberals are losing their shit over the Qatari jet. They’re claiming that it convinced him to sit down with Hamas. Talking with Hamas is a good thing, IMO
