It’s 104 degrees in Phoenix with very high winds. She stands behind her walker for an hour and a half in the Arizona sun, holding her sign against her head so it doesn’t blow away. She has trouble getting her walker in and out of her car but that doesn’t stop her from attending EVERY SINGLE PROTEST.
If you’re younger than 93 years old, YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE. Get your young asses out there.

The comments on the Source’s thread are very disheartening, many replies are angry that the OP accused them of not having an excuse. Yes of course not everyone is without an excuse and yes, the OP is exaggerating, but it’s to make a point: that this lady does have excuses, plenty of them, yet she gets out there anyway (at risk to herself in that heat at her age), and that if we care about what’s happening we should try to emulate her determination. And (dare the OP imply?), feel ashamed if we could but don’t? *gasp*
But most of the replies are all about being offended and attacking that message, which is what’s disheartening to me.
When enough people in a society feel no responsibility to other members of their society, it’s doomed. When we can’t admire someone for going above and beyond normal expectations to do their part because it might hurt the feelings of those who don’t, it’s too late for us. When we can’t point out when someone does something “better” in case it makes those who didn’t do better feel inferior, it’s too late. Too many people want to be victims, are proud of victimhood, proud of their suffering, and when someone doesn’t act like a victim in spite of their suffering, it implies that they don’t have to be victims either, and that is unforgivable.
End of rant, now I accept your downvotes for my blasphemy.
