Rad Power Bikes has refreshed it RadRunner compact utility ebike family, updating existing models and adding a new feature-packed Max flavor that takes pedal-assist hauling up to 28 mph.
This seems more like a motorcycle than a bike to me, but you know, I’m here for it.
If the US gets more scooter culture (like Asia), it’d do wonders for the flow of traffic. Right now, cars have just gotten so huge and so dangerous they scare the heck out of me - nothing like 8,000# of low-visibility vehicle with one occupant hurtling down a 45 mph road at 65 to discourage me from being out there.
It’s sort of like “would you rather fight 1 elephant sized ant or 1,000 ant-sized elephants”
*28 on flat terrain, full charge, light rider. With wind, a heavy ulock, groceries, and a steep hill, you’ll be pedaling at 14 mph while cars roar past you doing 35. Class III bikes are needed for hilly cities, particularly because few put bike lanes on steep hills.
