seasonal items like American flags and fireworks are largely made in China

That really sums up all you need to know about American “patriotism”

I get the point of the article, and I’m not trying to ignore the very valid points made in it.

Just… Dollar Tree? That’s your go-to image? Like am I supposed to be upset that cheaply-made plastic goods are less available? Surely they could have chosen a better image for the article.

Fully aware this is me being nitpicky.

There are a lot of people in the US living in food desert areas. Dollar stores are the only thing around. They’re the main general store for the town.

Many of the people living in these areas don’t have the means to take a 40-60 minute drive on a weekly basis to the next larger town with proper grocery stores.

No it’s OK I was in the same boat reading some of these. Like yes, there is absolutely going to be some necessities dry up, but I do not care one iota that disposable, wasteful cheap shit is going to go away. Oh darn! Less waste!

I’m sure I’m missing something here; like the waste will probably go elsewhere, but I’m desperate for silver linings to this hellscape.
