They don’t make comedy movies anymore and standup which has always been mostly trash is now the worst its ever been. We used to make Rick Moranises and Kids In Halls in this country.

I’ve got a pretty good Scott Thompob story. Met him after a show and we had some drinks and he was talking about how there used to be a pretty thriving bathhouse scene where I grew up and at the peak of kids in the hall he was there and a dude with a a leather mask and funnel in his mouth was there and it was pretty clear what was going on there so after a few drinks he decided to go for it and before he could unzip the dude unzipped his mask first and said ‘sorry Scott. I’m just not a fan.’

All I can say is that it’s a story he told me. It is very possible a professional comedian had some bullshit stories in the pocket but it’s generally believable. I don’t think he believed wither his sense of celebrity died cause he kept doing a lot of coke for years after and I doubt he genuinely thought he saved the troupe cause comedians tend to tell jokes. I’ve met most of the kids in the hall, aside from Bruce which bums me out. Meeting Canadian celebrities in Canada just means you’ve worked at bars or late night takeout places. Met Jack Layton randomly once while we watched a guy jump into a body of water way too large to swim away from cops to avoid an arrest. He just happened to be standing next to me at a public event when this scen went down. It’s a fucking huge country but only like 45 people live here.

            • Lmao that’s fantastic. I got to meet the crew when they did Death Comes to Town, and they’re all so nice to be around. Dave Foley was the least i met, but Scott and Bruce were so much fun to talk to.
