I tried explaining that to a couple of people a few days ago. It’s not just rhetoric, there’s an actual reason they like to declare a “War” on various things like drugs, terror, etc. By declaring a “War,” it allows the government to access certain policies/ strategies that are only available during wartime. When they declared a War of Drugs, it allowed law enforcement to get extra federal money, as well as justification for militarizing the local cops.
In this case, it allows HitlerPig to use some old wartime powers act, even though its not a war, and the people hebis targeting arent actually combatants. Its just an thin excuse to deny them rights, as if they were enemy combatants on a battlefield.
When your own conservative judges are striking down your official acts as unlawful, you should have the self-awareness to know you’ve gone too far.
