Agreed. Super Saiyan was cool, but as a racial ability it always seemed limited and there weren’t really any downsides once it was mastered. Kaio-ken just required an extremely strong control of one’s Ki, not being a specific race and it had clear disadvantages as well. Even after being mastered it took a toll on the user.

Being ultra powerful is cool, but only so far then it just gets kind of dumb.
