This also works with narcissists. Used to be friends with a dude who was a huge narc and one night we went to go hangout at a club and I met this one girl and we were hitting it off pretty good, but the thing is, my narc friend was the driver and his night wasn’t going so well. He made up some bullshit story about needing to leave, and since he was my ride and rideshare apps didn’t yet have service in the area we were at, I basically had to break things off with the girl I was talking to and leave with him.

2nd rule of family gatherings: if you brought your own vehicle, do not park in your families driveway. You will get blocked in and that one uncle refuses to let you out because “we are just sitting here so nicely”. Always try to park in a public spot, or, if possible, in the street.

And here I thought that I had a toxic family. We’re all a big bunch of narcissists with anger issues, but nobody is stopping anyone from leaving.

Or just public transport. I know this is hard to understand to 'Muricans.

You’re putting this on the citizens when we really have little say.

In theory, everyone should vote and the will of the people will be done.

Sadly, that isn’t how it actually works.

Lets just say that various industries spend a lot of money bribing lobbying to keep things profitable for them.

I’ll use an example from when I was younger. I worked at a big box retail store. It was 45 minutes one way, but hey, it was a job.

The nearest bus stop would have required me to drive 35 minutes to downtown to catch a bus, which is the wrong way to begin with, then get on the bus and wait over an hour for it to arrive at work.

The politicians and planners build AROUND cars here. Public transport is an afterthought, if thought of at all.

The American’s who would like to reduce dependence on automobiles don’t really have that option in most of the country - but sure, we’re all morons who don’t understand the concept of public transportation.

It isn’t stupidity or ignorance on the peoples part, its greed by the ruling class. Any ignorance on the matter has been propagandized and weaponized by said ruling class to gain support for their bank accounts cause.

At this point, I’m working from home, as is my wife. We would still need at least one car, but I’m looking to sell mine, get out of the monthly payment at the very least.

Love the [weirdly muppet-like] thumbs up while pulling away from whatever emotional chaos is happening behind the camera.

As if he’s saying “good luck with your racism!” or something like that lol

Or if you live in a civilised country, just take public transport.

That’s true and probably more practical. A few glasses of wine always helps xD

“oh my, I think I’ve had too much to drink and need to head out. Thanks for the visit, family”

“You…just got here. You’re still wearing your coat and the door is still swinging open as we speak from where you opened it.”

Oh, yeah, more than once. At the in-laws home:
    Wife: we’re leaving
    Me: ?
Wife: Tell you in the car
Me, putting the shoes on: K
It is so liberating to be able to get out of some random bullshit!

I got my regular “off-brand taxi” habibi on standby. In case I need it, I send him a signal and he swoops by as I take a flying leap into his car and we scoot tf out of there in his hatchback.

This is good life advice. Never get taken hostage by transportation issues. It’s always the toxic family members who want to car pool, for some reason

Is it me or do a lot of lemmings have a lot of family issues?

Should we post we don’t have family issues to make the balance fair?
