The Pope’s fucking dead.

He gave JD Vance three chocolate easter eggs, exchanged pleasantries for 17 minutes, and then keeled over and died.

What a way to go.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don’t want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. 2 days after Brazil’s Supreme Court filed charges against Jair Bolsonaro he was hospitalized with a bowel obstruction. 9 days later he started doing live interviews from his hospital bed. Today, the Supreme Court announced if he’s healthy enough for that, he’s ready for trial.

Bolsonaro’s legal team has 5 days to prepare its defense.

India has suspended the 1960 ‘Indus Water Treaty’ with Pakistan. Additionally, India has closed the Wagha-Attari and the Amritsar-Lahore border crossings with Pakistan.

India has announced it is withdrawing all its diplomatic staff from Islamabad, and has ordered all Pakistani diplomats to leave New Delhi. There is a full-blown Pakistani-Indian war ongoing in Wikipedia, with Indian editors changing many articles, and Pakistani editors changing them too

One Pakistani editor managed to change the main front page of the Indus Water Treaty, stating that the suspension by India is a ‘publicity stunt by the Modi govt.’ and can lead to ‘catastrophic nuclear war’. India orders all Pakistani nationals with SAARC visas to leave the country within 48 hours.

Iran states it considers India’s diplomatic actions against Pakistan to be ‘regretful’, and that it hopes India will take a ‘responsible’ position.

    Vijay Prashad

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) strongly condemns the barbaric killing of 28 tourists in Jammu and Kashmir by terrorists. The CPI(M) extends deepest condolences to the families of the innocent people who lost their lives in the attack. Several people have suffered serious injuries in the attack. The CPI(M) extends wishes for their speedy recovery. The perpetrators of the horrific crime must be apprehended and punished. The police and security forces are under the Central Government. The Central Government must leave no stone unturned in bringing the forces responsible for the dastardly attack to justice. The perpetrators of the crime are the enemies of the nation and more so of the people of Kashmir. It is incumbent on the Central Government to probe all angles of the attack including the lack of security in crowded tourist places. The CPI(M) stands united with the people of India in this hour of tragedy against the extremist fundamentalist forces.

Kinda weird to call the central goverment Hindutva fascism for years and then fully support them in increasing the militarization of Kashmir, also Prashad posted this 5 years ago

One year ago, Narendra Modi arrested Kashmir.

In my Opinion the CPI (M) is not looking good

at least the indian communists still have the naxalites

India downgrades Pakistan ties after attack on Kashmir tourists - Al Jazeera English

    Article

India has announced a raft of measures to downgrade its ties to Pakistan, a day after armed men killed 26 people in the tourist town of Pahalgam in the disputed region Kashmir.

Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri told a media briefing on Wednesday that the cross-border linkages of the attack in Indian-administered Kashmir had been “brought out” at a special meeting of the security cabinet, after which it was decided to act against Pakistan.

He said the main land border crossing between the two countries would be shut with immediate effect and New Delhi would suspend a water treaty that allows for sharing the waters of the Indus river system between the two countries.

He said Pakistani nationals would be barred from travelling to India under the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) visa exemption programme, and that Pakistanis using the visas have 48 hours to leave the country.

The defence advisers in the Pakistani high commission in New Delhi were declared persona non grata and asked to leave, Misri said, adding that the overall strength of the Indian high commission in Islamabad will be reduced to 30 from 55.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called a meeting of the National Security Committee on Thursday morning to respond to the Indian government’s statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar posted on X.

A little-known group, the Resistance Front (TRF) claimed responsibility for the attack in a social media message, in which it expressed discontent that more than 85,000 “outsiders” had been settled in the region, spurring what it called a “demographic change”.

The dead included 25 Indians and one Nepalese national, police said, and at least 17 other people were wounded.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said it was “concerned at the loss of tourists’ lives” in Indian-administered Kashmir. “We extend our condolences to the near ones of the deceased and wish the injured a speedy recovery”, the ministry’s spokesperson said in a statement.

US airstrikes continue on Yemen for the 40th night in a row. So far, airstrikes have hit the following governorates:

    Sana’a (10):

    • 3 on Nuqum Mount
    • 1 on Al-Jiraf neighborhood

    Saada (9):

    • 3 northern city
    • 6 in Al-Salem

    Hodeidah (6):

    • 6 on al-Tuhayta.

    • 1 on Haylan Mount

Warning for potential graphic imagery during ongoing airstrikes:

    Al Masirah TV twitter

The Yemeni Armed Forces released a statement yesterday, about the ballistic missile launched at Israel. Video that came later showed an impact, so the missile was not intercepted, despite initial reporting. This is the first ballistic missile attack on Israel that has evaded interception, during the current phase of conflict.

If anyone wants a breakdown of the air defence systems Ansarallah have access to in Yemen, this article provides a good overall list with photos and videos, and explains why there’s a big focus on electro-opticcal and infrared based systems (their sensors are passive).

Also, the laser guided AGM-114 Hellfire air to ground missiles have made an appearance on US carriers, visible on the right, AIM-9 Sidewinder air to air missiles on the left. AGM-114s only have a maximum range of 11 km, so these are being used for some close strikes. The US Navy has had plans to integrate the AGM-114 with the F-35C stealth fighter, so that could be what’s happening here.

also as we have more brainworm-friendly audience here in news mega, nlr does shenanigans again and decides to interview ross duffus.

    https://newleftreview.org/issues/ii152/articles/ross-douthat-condition-of-america

it’s fascinating to see imperialist brainworms intersecting with catholic brainworms and compassion, intertwined with brazen classism and absences which imply existence of something. so if you want a land of contrasts shrug-outta-hecks

i found it somewhat interesting, if sometimes annoying (okay a lot annoying, but still amusing)

maybe it’s nlr karma for interviewing pal action, so they have to balance it with shit

Ukraine is currently under a massive combined ballistic missile, cruise missile and drone attack. The latest update from the air raid monitoring channel states:

Kyiv, Kharkiv and Pavlohrad are under a massive combined attack.

    Kyiv was preliminarily attacked with

    • 6 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles,
    • 6 3M14 Kalibr cruise missiles,
    • An unspecified number of one way attack UAVs (Shahed/Geran).

At least 3 cruise missiles were used to attack Kharkiv.

At least 2 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles and 3 cruise missiles were used to attack Pavlohrad.

The attack continues: There are 4 Tu-95MS and 3 Tu-160 in the airspace of the Western region of Russia. They are likely to reach the launching line by 4am, and we can expect Kh-101 cruise missiles by 5am.

Cruise missiles have entered Ukrainian airspace in Kherson, and the strategic bombers have performed launching maneuvers of cruise missiles.

Two groups of cruise missiles, one in Sumy and another in Cherskay.

More cruise missiles (Kalibr and Kh-101). Current situation, 4 groups of cruise missiles:

Missiles from the south of Kyiv region towards Vinnytsia! Missiles from Sumy region towards Poltava and Chernihiv regions! A group of missiles from Chernihiv region towards Kyiv region! A group of missiles from Poltava region towards Cherkasy!

This is a very large attack.

Russian MiG-31K aircraft are airborne, they can launch the Kinzhal air launched ballistic missile.

I tried to cut down my internet intake but kept my Hexbear slop. I found myself regularly uninformed about what was happening here in the US and abroad. I knew a lot about Beanis. But not much more than that. Is it because I wasn’t reading this mega? Or do I need to go back to obsessively reading news?

Im a couple of cones and more than a couple of beers deep so can someone explain why the following:

As many as one in 200 adults and one in 50 children have a nut allergy, charities say.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvgpvzrjjdzo

isn’t implying a quarter of kids die from the allergy? better testing methods? that doesn’t make sense unless there’s a level of allergy that can skirt by unnoticed even when straight up eating a peanut right? Just bad writing?

Comrades, a little breakdown on Pakistan vs India please. Shit appears to be kicking off and I don’t trust either government. All I know is that India is basically fascist with those Hindutva freaks in power, and Pakistan has always been a CIA infested state. Where do we stand from an anti-imperialist standpoint, and who’s benefiting from this uncertainty right now.
