This is a good place to remind people to check if you can register as a donor in general.

In Germany, DKMS will send you a DIY swabbing kit for free, so it really just takes 10 minutes to register: https://www.dkms.de/registrieren

I’m sure other countries have similar systems in place, because fuck cancer.

      Sorry for hijacking this comment.

In many places, especially with big hospitals (or universities, or some big establishment) - Most of them have some form of blood donation camps, especially around major holidays (often the national ones).

Please donate blood - you can safely do it 3-4 times a year, and be completely healthy (you can do once in roughly 90 days for males, and 110ish days for females, but please confirm this with your general physician). But even if half the people (even a tenth for some countries) do once per year, we will not have a blood crisis.

And you can always register for organ donation or organ matching/swapping (depending on jurisdiction) - after you are dead, or if you are terminally ill, but have some organs (for example - eyes, kidneys, liver, etc) which function normally, can be donated. Often this is as simple as getting a registeration done, and then just maintain a card with your health records. In case of death or otherwise, most hospitals will then arrange for grafting and storage of organs themselves, with little to no headache for patients family. And in many places, the organ donor is then given some kind of state honor. This also helps reduce organ trafficing, and abuse of poor people who sometimes have/forced to sell their organs.

I just did so for the first time today. Oddly, I didn’t feel any effects (aside from the needle puncture). I was really worried I’d feel terrible, or that I might even vomit (I asked what to do in such case beforehand), but thankfully nothing. (I mean, I am underweight, just OK enough for the limits)
I only got a bit freaked out when I removed the bandage and it took my dumb ass a while to realize that the extra drop of fresh blood is too light (I probably peeled off the scab). Anyway, so I just put a band-aid over it. At least I didn’t have a white shirt.

I am just disappointed that I got A+. I mean, this isn’t school, I hoped for 0-. 😕 Well, searching the internet, it seems it may be good for plasma or platelets, but I kinda fear the machine xD

Anyway, the personnel was really nice, so that was quite helpful too.

Regardless of your blood type, it is useful. Thank you for donating.

People can be good and they can be bad. The standard is neither.

Still interesting to think about what makes a person turn either way. Are some babies born evil? Maybe if their brain lack empathy for example. But most are probably born good.

Then they grow up in this shitty world, their brain gets programmed with how to be, how to look, what success is, what happiness is…basically society values that serve to sell more things.

Some turn evil because they dont think there is any point in being good.

Event of the decade in Worcestershire. If they had anything else to do they’d be doing that.

I, too, am from an area like that. At some point Jesus people have some dignity. Reading that, 2.5 hours, at minimum wage that’s just over $18. In that time you could have worked and just ordered a pizza.

So I guess if you are really at federal minimum wage that price would be worth the wait. If you make above minimum wage congrats, you devalued yourself, you would have done better just paying for the pizza.

I think the same about people who wait half an hour in the Costco gas lines to buy gas for slightly less. How much are you saving vs the value of your time sitting there? Time is the most precious thing we have on this planet and people will sit waiting for a few cents off gas or hours on already cheap pizza.
