As a developer doing mostly remote work, the thought of this setup appeal to me, but I doubt the technology is there yet. Having something on my face all day needs to be light, very light. The “monitors” need to be sharp and have both a decent refresh rate and PPI, while having a wide enough FOV.
Having the computer and the power bank just sat there on the table seems unnecessary. They could keep those stowed away to reduce desk clutter even more. Also, I’d like to see someone try this with a phone running a desktop streaming client instead of the mini pc. And I hope this AR tech really takes off.
I’ve heard that remote desktop is possible, but I haven’t tried it myself. I usually just use Samsung Dex.
