    Now it’s too late. They became a monopoly by being free, and harvested user data for profit. Now they decided they are going to charge for the service. This is a bait and switch.

    They should be forced to not have a free version. Everyone who wants to watch YouTube needs an account that costs 20 dollars per month. Now it’s possible to compete with them to some degree, even though it’s already too late and they are a monopoly now with billions of users.

    But it would spark some competition. Nobody can compete with free.
