There’s so much shit US history classes don’t talk about when it comes to Asian-Americans. The press ganging. Massacres of miners and farm workers. Entire towns and communities burned to the ground.
Can’t say I’m surprised when enslavement of black people and genocide of Native Americans are both treated as “controversial.”
I didn’t fully learn about how bad it was till the college town I went to was the sight of a railway massacre of Chinese workers by Irish workers, and it was only a fucking small blurb at their local train museum
It’s somehow made worse that these are history textbooks.
Outside of college level courses history classes in the U.S. talk about the founding fathers, the civil war, WW2, and then we’re magically to the present.
