If a show has a laugh track, usually it’s shot with really awkward pauses to allow time for the laughs to be played. It’s really not a great experience. It’s probably worse than with the laugh track, even if you hate it in the first place.
Example: Ross is a psycho without a laugh track
but if we could replace the laugh track with, say, the sound of geese
Probably not. But…if the show is mixed for surround sound and you have a surround sound setup, there’s a small chance you could unplug all channels but the center one and mmmaaayyybbee the laugh track won’t be there but the dialogue probably will be since its nearly always mixed into the center channel. This will probably kill most ambient sound too tho.
Is there a community college near you? You might enjoy taking a few audio production courses if they’re offered. Physics might interest you too if you have the math.
I definitely dont have the math altho I think I have a much better receptiveness to mathematical thinking since I got interested in coding and also now audio stuff. I like to learn from you guys on the limited simple concepts or problems I run into in my lowkey sound projects and experiments tho, will probably pick up all these things over time and as my curiosity leads me
Only show that gets a pass for me is Tosh.0, at least they had an audience even though the laugh track was obvious.
Postpone watching all your comedies for another 5-10 years and you can probably feed Friends to an “AI” bot that will take out the laugh tracks in a click of a button.
