    To be fair The thing with the red scare do be kinda true. People are still not able to differentiate between communism and authoritarianism.

      And tankies make that worse. Because they are literally a caricature of the strawman used by red scare tactics.

      They have basically nothing to do with Marxism in substance. They are pretty much authoritarians who support varying forms of state capitalism, but use Leftist language.

      Issue is, the red scare thing is also criticized those regimes in a way that it wouldn’t be applicable to capitalism, and they either try to redefine authoritarianism to exclude capitalist leaders (including CEOs), or try to turn the term “strongman leader” into a euphemism for “authoritarian leaders we approve”.

        Well i can’t blame people for believing it at first, because currently there was only authoritarian communism which has also been used to fuel the red scare. But I devinetively can blame people for not educating themselves further and continuing to belief the propaganda they got spoonfed.

          I know what communism stands for, but anyone who believes it can work and doesn’t devolve into authoritarian regime pretty much immediately is naive.
