Sin is any want of conformity unto, or transgression of, the law of God.
Westminster Shorter Catechism
Sin is an offense against reason, truth, and right conscience; it is failure in genuine love for God and neighbor caused by a perverse attachment to certain goods. It wounds the nature of man and injures human solidarity. It has been defined as “an utterance, a deed, or a desire contrary to the eternal law.”

What is “sin”?
Talk to the bonobo about this one. They know all about it.
Na. It took me too long already to understand it’s not about geometry.
The opposite over the hypotenuse
To be “sinful” is to act against your best interests.
Chimps and monkeys have been known to do BATSHIT INSANE stuff
According to what definition?
Mine, I just gave it to you. Got a better one?
Ok - let’s pretend we live in username irl. Who would win this contest?

“Sin” is heavily religiously connotated. Any definition that does not include that context misses an important part.
Okay, incorporate that into a definition without showing favoritism to any one religion.
The central idea behind sin in all religions is what I said - acting against your own interest, i.e., what God wants for you
But what if what said god wants for me is against my own interest?
Ooo, the catechism!
So, religion and faith are sin? Interesting lol
Wait, is there something missing or am I not getting something? How can “wanting to conform to the law of god” be sin?
want meaning ‘lack’ in this context (e.g. ‘found wanting’)
I see
