Even with the endless propaganda, I never feel like China hates us. The best the west comes up with are nebulous schemes they say they are running but they do a really shit job of conveying “hate” or even anything close to the tension of the Cold War. China has done a great job of being like, “hey we really want to work with you but you are not willing”.

They should hate us though, the us govt seems to be adversarial to a point of absurdity.

It kinda reminds me of that period when XHS was blowing up and USAmericans realized that Chinese people don’t really think about the US in the same way that we think about China.

Chinese people have better things to focus on than jingoism.

One of the more interesting points for me in Gao’s “The Battle for China’s Past” is when he goes into detail about how Chinese media since the Deng era, at the government’s behest, goes way too easy on the US and has given the people a distorted positive view.

This facade is only starting to crack now, but most Chinese nationals still put the US on a pedestal and believe it’s a land of milk and honey.

They really don’t (gigantic L for China tbh, I do not at all understand how other countries have a positive view of us, especially like China and Vietnam)

Every accusation against China that USians make feels like something out of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

Also the handful of times the Chinese were educated on what we were doing it rose them to such furor, theres an episode of season 3 of Blowback talking about the volunteer army that includes a quote from a regular Chinese dude who could not wait to kill all the yankee imperialist dogs.
