This is the most obvious pump and dump in world history, and if you still believe in cryptocurrency beyond it being a vehicle for scamming people than you are a total fool lol

Well, it’s the U.S. Treasury Secretary. Not that you’re wrong, but people have been saying that about Bitcoin for years.

I’m biased of course since bitcoin helped me retire early, but I don’t think it’s so much a “scam” as it is another form of gambling. Only buy as much as you can afford to lose if it all goes belly up.

But Bitcoin isn’t really anymore of a scam than the stock market these days. Both are gambling. Both involve people richer than us. Both involve computers/ai. And both an help ya out if you are cautious, wise, and watch the market closely.

But I def paid off my house before I fucked around with any of it! lol

This is some hilarious shit, did you just suggest the current U.S. Treasury Secretary is an authority on anything?

The current U.S. Treasury Secretary is an idiot to say the least and put it VERY kindly, and I would take whatever he says as an indicator of the OPPOSITE thing of what to do, so I consider this in support of my point not against it. If you think the current U.S. Treasury Secretary is on your side, and giving you honest advice or telling you the truth, you are insane or utterly oblivious to reality.

You know why gambling used to be largely illegal in the U.S.? Because it destroys peoples lives.

Nobody cares if you retired off it early, good for you, that doesn’t change the fact that this is an immoral casino that preys upon whoever is the biggest chump left holding the hot potato at the end.

Sure, but nothing you said is going to change anything. People are going to continue to gamble. And by cryptocoins. And listen to the U.S. Treasury Secretary. Regardless of how mad you are.

I totally support your right to your opinion. But the majority disagree with you.

No, the things I say, and the things people like me say will change things.

In the mean time, enjoy the catastrophe you ordered!

Yeah? And when is this change gonna happen? Lemmy users aren’t gonna look up from their vid games long enough to make any change happen. They’ll bitch about it on Lemmy. They’ll downvote posts they don’t like. They’ll upvote all talk of a revolution.

But none of them will do it. There will be no change. Look around. lol

I am sorry you are surrounded by such cynical people with such paucity of vision, but when I look around I see people everywhere fired up to fight for positive change, people who are existentially fed up with the status quo. I see people that don’t want to have to wait decades for a chance at bringing democracy back and are fighting in every way they can to stop the cruel conservative destruction of society and government happening all over the world, the US included (and chiefly responsible).

I feel for you, what poor luck to have your vision clouded at a moment full of such hope, since this moment I think we both can agree is also full of such sadness and such loss of hope, I can see why you must feel hopeless.

Take heart in knowing your perspective is warped!
