I did this thing and looked at poe2 reddit and there the community is melting down.

I so far only had time to play up to level 13, but like it so far because my actions and decisions actually matter in most cases when I fight.

I died often, but (almost) each time I knew what I need to change or get so I cannot yet relate at all to all the tantrums over there.

I belong to those who don’t like the late endgame of poe1 or even 2 very much because its too much visually unclear bullet-hell stuff going on, so im personally much in favor of slower less ridiculous and slightly more human-skill based gameplay.

What’s the sentiment of the few of us here on lemmy poe2?

Reddit melts down after every release. Idk if thats indicative of bad launches every time, or if we’ve just trained reddit to moan every time something new happens.

I myself couldnt play much last night due to that crash that they fixed 5hrs~ after launch (which tbf is pretty quick) so i figured id just call it a night and instead enjoy my time this weekend on it.

Huntress / spear skills felt fun and fast, but a little weak. (They apparently already nerfed a ton of hp off early mobs)

I definitely enjoy the slower leveling pace more than endgame (at least last patch)

If poe1 had WASD controls id enjoy it more too i think.

Either way, love PoE(1&2). Its such a refreshing game compared to a few other aprg’s. Probably closest to scratch the impossible itch of nostalgia-brain diablo2.

      Agree.

My worry is that if ggg were to take the massive rants in reddit and their own forum as user feedback basis, poe2 would soon lose the freshness and turn into poe1 with extra steps.

As much as I value user feedback in general, I hope Jonathan will stick to his vision on this and rather cater poe1 and poe2 towards different target groups.

Right now it feels like poe1 players are venting their anger at not getting more poe1 content in a sort of brigarding manner.

Don’t worry too much about that, a few years ago Reddit went way off the deep end over some changes in poe1 and resorted to personal attacks against the devs and all sorts of wild vitriol. It was so bad that GGG actually made a special post about how hurtful and unproductive it was, and that even though they greatly value community feedback and interaction that the incident would force them to take a few steps back. And they noticeably did step back afterwards, including with the retirement of one of the great community managers of all time Bex (allegedly not related to the incident).

So yeah, they are taking Reddit with at least a few grains of salt. It’s all good.
