I think he has to be doing that along with some cooked up theory that pulling the rug from under the world economy would give the Empire a chance to see economic collapse on its own terms. That way the US is still able to pick off some carcasses from a position of dominance and try to hurt China as well. There has to be some fascist in there that thinks this is the way to reset everything into maintaining US hegemony. I don’t think it’s going to work though.

So, he’s accelerating what would happen as the US loses ground to China/BRICS but also personally grifting at the same time.
