Publisher Square Enix and developer Cattle Call announced turn-baseed RPG Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster for Switch 2. It will launch alongside the platform on June 5.
The original holds up reasonably well from technical perspective. I tried to play it some time ago and those crunchy but skilfully layered graphics are still pretty. Later 3DS games often skipped 3D effect entirely but Bravely Default used it to improve on it’s aesthetics. While remake lacks 3D effect obviously it seems to offset this by how gorgeous character design looks at high res.
There comes the issue though. I gave up replaying Bravely Default because repetitiveness is core to it’s gameplay. I finished it. I loved it. I don’t want to go through that slog again. Not many people played it though probably so it’s nice more people will be able to enjoy it as a brand new experience.

Yeah, I loved this game–has possibly the best “bad” ending I’ve ever seen–but more than 10 years later I’m also still not up for a replay.
Also wondering how this will handle the microtransactions.
