Cory Booker has been filibustering for a while, but there’s no legislation that he’s stalling.

Procedure, he’s not letting the Senate do anything at all. They have to sit there and do nothing until he stops.

Unlike a filibuster he can’t be voted down, and he can do this as long as he’s able to stand and speak.

I really need you to think about what you’re saying here: What would the senate be doing if he wasn’t speaking, and will that now not happen as a result of his speaking? Delaying things by a day or three doesn’t mean anything if they still happen.

Maybe if we said “good job do more of this” in a day or three or every day they would do something like this?

He’s putting a stop to everything. If he did this during the debate if a vote he’d be doing an actual filibuster and can be voted down by 60 votes, and there are Dems probably would vote him down. By doing so when not doing “anything” he stops everything.

It’s a double edge sword here because if he did it during a debate for legislation people could say “he’s blocking legislation” but by doing so before the Senate does anything he’s stopping everything (including votes) but now there is nothing to point to.

He’s stopped the Senate from doing anything for a day. That’s one day down 4 years to go, but at least something happened today.

What were they about to do today that required them being stopped or is he just gonna be in the senate floor pissing and shitting and talking until he’s removed from office for being a guy clearly indulging in a fetish?

“if he was actually doing anything there would be enough votes to stop him” is not the argument you think it is my friend…

So, nothing then. As was stated in the post.

Why are you being so overtly defensive of a group of politicians who will band together to help out mask off fascists while also throwing out this meager theater? 9 dems crossed the isle to make the budget happen.

And as was pointed out elsewhere in this thread,

If the Dems were serious on gridlocking the Senate they should not be providing unanimous consent on things like adjourning and all the other procedural points of order

Replying to the strategies outlined cause I didn’t see them. I agree with them, I think Leeja Miller outlined those specific ones.

To do those though they would need the whole of the democrats to get behind those strategies which while not impossible is very hard right now.

What Corey Booker is doing he doesn’t need the Dems approval he can just do it himself.

First of all, defensive of the party vs defensive of this one action are not the same thing.

The fact that the Dems are generally fascist is why this action makes more sense than a legitimate filibuster which would be voted down by Democrats siding with the Republicans.

I’m being defensive of this specific political action because, at this moment in time, anti fascist actions by liberals is all we’re going to get.

If you think that suddenly the Democrats in power will become legitimate leftists overnight you’re delusional, this singular action occurring I will defend because he’s successfully stalling the procedure in the Senate. I also hope other liberals will throw off their fascist tendencies and start to do the same.

But if you want to just sit there and wish really hard that they all become awakened to the cause tomorrow go ahead and live in your fantasy land.

I don’t think I’m the one living off fantasy, considering I’m not the one saying ‘why are we hating on this action that is accomplishing literally nothing’ and ‘I also hope other liberals will throw off their fascist tendencies and start to do the same’.

Dems have done this for decades, they do juuuuuuuuuust enough theatrical garbage like this to make you think they’re not all complicit, and then they turn around and openly aid the worst things imaginable. Not all of them, but always just enough of them for it to happen. And they’re always the ones co-opting leftist rhetoric while hamstringing them as much as possible, you’ll pardon me for mocking this newest rendition of liberal theater.

Again I do not disagree with your point about liberals being dog shit, the Dems being dog shit, and so on.

However this one action isn’t nothing imo, The action disrupted the Senate. I hope they continue to disrupt the Senate. Like you said they’re liberals, they’re progressive capitalists at the end of the day. We can’t expect them to work to overthrow the capitalist structure, that our job. But if my options are to encourage the childish anti fascist liberal behavior that’s doing some slight action, or never compromise and let the liberals grift further to the right because they realize that the real left will never be happy. I’m going to encourage them to be childishly antifascist. Id rather have begrudgingly support liberal antifascist than nothing at all personally.

For real: What would you rather they do to start to disrupt the Republicans? I mean this genuinely as you seem intelligent, because frankly outside of blocking procedure idk what you expect.
