I saw this it’s very sad but if you have to lay off people this is the classy way to do it. Loved the call out to other studios to hire their people and tried to give them a soft landing with severence.

This is not the same as the other studios it’s not some dumbass trying to make live service games that no one wants. It’s a shame more people are wasting their time and money on live service vs rich story telling and beautiful worlds.

Very sad to hear. Cyan is a massive influence on me and I’m always rooting for them. They definitely haven’t had a smooth or easy road over the years though.

Would love to see more of the developer providing good information for those laid off so other companies can more easily ingest possible hires.

This headline has the structure of the famous Simpsons joke.

    Cyan (Myst, Riven)

    Homer: that’s good.

    to lay off

    Homer: that’s bad.

    12 people

    Homer: that’s good.

    “roughly half of team”

    Homer: ??

    Narrator: that’s bad.

The fact that this headline has to call out the studio that made a 30-year-old game speaks volumes as to why they have to lay people off.
