What physical trait do you think people first notice about you? Do they make assumptions about you based on it? Are those assumptions correct, or not?
Not really a physical trait, but many people who hear my voice will often tell me that I should be on the radio. I get it all the time, everywhere I go. I have a very deep, narrator voice.
Sorry, I know I might sound arrogant, but it’s true.
I’ve had a deep voice even since I was a small child. There’s home videos of me as a toddler and I sounded much more boyish than boys of that age.
In high school my voice dropped almost as deep to where it is now and people calling my parents house would often think that I was my dad answering the phone, even though my voice is even deeper than his.
I’m 18 F from Scotland and since I was about 14 I’ve had a reasonably large chest for my age. It’s kinda evened out now but when I was 16 people used to think I was older because of my boobs and it always seemed to be the first thing people noticed
I’m tall, with broad shoulders, and appear in good shape.
I think alpha nonsense is ridiculous insecure stupidity. I don’t care anything about the dominant role people expect me to play. And I’ve been through a broken neck and back, but show little external signs of the underlying physical disability it caused. Top that off with once upon a time I was 150 pounds heavier. People notice my presence. No one understands this onion based on first assumptions… got some layers
My eyes. I’ve been told often that I have kind, gentle eyes.
Which is reflective of half of me. The other half, of course, is an utterly sadistic Dom.
The halo, of course.
I’m blonde and blue eyed, so obviously I’m a ditzy bimbo who can’t count to ten. I get mansplained to a lot.
Well aside from the very easy answer here because I’m male and comfortable with female presentation so most likely my long hair, painted nails, or shaved legs etc., but I happen to have an unusual eye color and a bit of a piercing and observant gaze. In the past I’ve been told it can be a little unnerving, but I’ve worked to ensure it’s a bit more welcoming. That depends on how much I’m paying attention to it though.
Well, it’s usually just my size, from what people have said. I used to lift weights pretty seriously, and even though I stopped ages ago, I’m still meaty.
When it isn’t that, it’s the beard and/or other hairiness. I’m a wee bit shaggy lol. One of my nicknames is sasquatch.
So, if someone is seeing me for the first time, one of those two is the first thing they’ll see. They’re obvious, unlike facial features or whatever.
Some folks do make assumptions. Big, hairy dude; gotta be a biker, or some kind of roughneck. Which isn’t really true. Don’t get me wrong, I was a bouncer as a side gig for a long time, but I was never one to go looking for trouble. And, while I have been on motorcycles, it isn’t something I was willing to do regularly, much less hang around a bunch of other people that ride when that’s all we would really have in common. Local bikers here are pretty much all macho dicks; that isn’t the case everywhere, I ain’t hatin on bikers in general. Just the local ones.
But, while sasquatch is one of my nicknames, one of the others that has been applied to me by people independently of each other (in other words, I wasn’t introduced that way) is teddy bear.
So, the assumptions aren’t accurate at all, in any real sense.
Guys usually say “you’re tall!” (I’m not even that tall)
Women usually say I am thin.
Black ladies most often compliment my hair (curly white lady hair)
Small bust and glasses, I apparently also look smart & geeky, so I think that is the stereotype I am usually put into. Not complaining about that, and it’s not far off anyway.
@RBWellsV23 these all sound like pretty lovely assumptions to have made about you!
That I didn’t shave. Why does my beard bother them? I like it!
I assume my hair, usually. I have tremendous hair.
The gaze. Is it alert, attentive, friendly, interested,…? This assessment is often correct.
