He’s also “on the spectrum”, but using that term just makes people call you a superfan apologist, so that’s off the table. “Neurodivergent” also applies, but that word is now synonymous with persecuted virtue, so no luck there. There’s really no socially acceptable way to look at his behavior in any halfway objective manner, because “halfway objective” means superfan apologist. He’s become an anger-only subject.

Yeah I know, the only acceptable way to discuss certain people is to scream how terrible they are and how much you hate them. I’m curious about the nature of behavior, and IMO Musk is behaving very differently now than say 20 years ago, which interests me. To you this probably looks like worship. Oh well.

No, it looks like you just want to understand, but don’t. I think the vitriol you’d get us because ppl assume either:

            • how can you not understand or
            • understanding is irrelevant, you don’t need to understand cancer to know it’s pathological and bad. I fall into this camp.

I think most don’t want to understand him, they want him gone. Threat assessment. I can relate; he needs to get got.

If “see a threat, take it down” were official policy, a friend of mine who is in a psych hospital at this moment probably would have been shot in the streets rather than taken into custody. It’s really just a matter of scale. AND I’M NOT SAYING MUSK IS RIGHT - but feel free to pretend I’m “on his side” and therefore evil, and douchevote my comment like a good clean-thought vigilante!

I’d be willing to be your friend is not a Lex Luthor-esque billionaire with plans for world domination. Sorry but cannot countenance equivocation with respect to Musk, there are scarcely comparable human beings with his malice and ability to project ill will.

Edited to add: I didn’t actually downvote you, nor suggest you were taking his side in my reply. What I did to was take the time to engage, and suggest you came off as not understanding the threat Musk posed vs “taking his side”. Feeling a bit like you are working overtime for the persecution angle here.

I hear you. I used to work at SpaceX. The current motherfucker is not the person I had exposure to, who wasn’t that terrible or that great, except for some novel approaches to problems.

His quirks have amplified, his god complex has ascended to the multiverse, and he’s now so far out of touch that he might as well already be on Mars.

Also the drugs. He’s winning the war on drugs by not leaving any for others.

Careful now, you’re dangerously close to making him sound like an actual human being. That’s not allowed in meme-driven binary culture. Everybody’s either Good or Evil. Don’t forget it!
