What do you like to do when you travel? I’m just gonna cast a wide net. Here’s a list of events you can check out in addition to these suggestions.

    • Live local music at a bar or other local venue. They happen pretty much all days of the week in whatever genre you like

    • The Oregon Zoo

    • The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is pretty cool. It’s more geared for kids (still pretty cool tbh), but they also do after-hours adults-only events where drinks are served. The Zoo does, too.

    • See a Trailblazers, Winterhawks, or Rose City Rollers (roller derby) game

    • Portland Art Museum

    • Various inconic places to grab a bite. Some places are usually very busy and a bit on the more touristy side, such as Bluestar Donuts, Voodoo Donuts, and Salt & Straw ice cream. Any of the food cart pods are fun to check out, I’d say they’re way more Portland than the others I mentioned. There’s a vibrant food scene in Portland, so everything from casual eats to fine dining is easy to find. Plenty of guides out there to help decide.

    • Lots and lots of bars, take your pick. The ones I like usually have a dingy punk vibe, like the Yamhill Pub, but one that might be fun to check out is the goth bar The Coffin Club. There’s also bars where music and dancing is the main thing, like The Goodfoot, which is always having different kinds of music depending on the night.

    • There’s also a ton of micro-breweries, so it might be worth taking a tour, or at least visiting.

    • The much-acclaimed Japanese Gardens

    • Check out the Saturday Market at the Waterfront, as well as any of the regular farmers markets.

    • Get out of town to see Oregon’s natural beauty. Lots of day and half-day tours available for the Gorge and elsewhere.

    • Forest Park is also one of the largest city parks in the US and is right in town. It offers miles and miles of trails in gorgeous evergreen forest and even has convenient public transit stops that meet it in different spots.

    • A city tour might also be fun, or even just rent a bike and ride around. People host regular group bike ride events.

    • Roller skating and rides at Oaks Amusement Park

Portland has pretty decent public transit, so don’t be afraid to use it to get around.

The diviest dive bar that ever dove is the Yamhill Pub.

To be clear, I’m not suggesting you go there seriously, you go there once to say “OMG - Yamhill Pub…”
