A Facebook group for Cybertruck owners is full of videos and photos of passersby and other drivers flicking them off, leaving notes that say “WHAT’S ELON’S CUM TASTE LIKE?,” and “NAZI CAR,” and people kicking their cars, throwing slices of cheese at it, etc.

Yeah, because it’s an entirely subjective rule. People are not “being excellent” to me, because I’m insistent that there was no projection.

Lots of “do your own research” and downvoting, but not a single person can actually verbalise the thing I’m asking. And me pointing that out makes people angry.

i mean, i did that for you. but you ignore it, even now when insisting it never happened.

No, you tried doing that and I explained how that isn’t what psychological projection is.

I know how the word IS used, and since languages evolve, this will soon be as meaningless a word as “literally”, but no-one is projecting their own emotions onto others.

The Tesla owner saying thar may be being ironic, but he isn’t projecting anything.

well, you asked “why” to a different question and i was answering that. but if you understood my response, that would give you the context of why you got downvoted. it comes down to you arguing the opposite of what you think you are, because you didn’t read the article or understand the context of the comment. you ‘chose violence’ instead, for no reason.

because you didn’t read the article or understand the context of the comment.

Its less than two pages ofc I read it. Look at my comments my average comment length is longer than that article lol.

And now youre trying to do to me what I’ve been doing all the time; calling someone out on their BS. Except I’m not bullshitting, unlike 99% of Lemmy.

I very thoroughly explained my point just now and instead of addressing it, you “chose violence” instead, going for pure ad hominem. Which, on a sidenote, is also misused quite a bit. It doesn’t mean the same thing as “insulting” or “offensive.” Argumentum ad hominem has a very specific meaning, which most of the internet is just too uncurious to read up on, instead preferring to use language they picked up on the way even when they don’t really understand the meaning of it.

What you are doing is projection. You are projecting your feelings of hostility, negativity and insecurity onto me and my comments. Writing in a neutral tone is rather dangerous online actually, exactly because of that being so common.

So, as I’ve said earlier, argue the matter, not the man.

The Tesla guy saying “the only way they’ll learn is if they’re shamed” isn’t projection. It’s ironic, but it’s ironic because he is being shamed but he hasn’t learned.

It’s not “projection” and you simply can’t or won’t argue that. And the internet likes to pile on people. Like I’ve said, I’m used to being hated on and being in the minority. I’m used to fighting mobs with reason. You could say it’s my lifestyle, really.

I do admit those were a bit under the belt. I was dehydrated and had just woken up, now I’ve rested and eaten well. Anyway, that’s no excuse.

I’m still gonna stand behind my point, but I’ll try to do it without further unnecessary insults. Apologies.

the only way these people will learn [is] if they are shamed

              Oh projection…

Ok I can not believe you are not getting this. The people who said the first part are the cybertrunk owners. The comment about projection is both funny and ironic.

You know since the cybertruck owners don’t understand they are being shammed, and are saying the people throwing cheese at them (to shame them) will only learn if they are shamed.

But I mean that shame can be shared now, since anyone who has reading comprehension and who has read the above article would get the joke being made.

You can’t even write. “Cybertrunk” “Samme”. ("Oh it was my autocorrect)

                I read the article.

What do you think is being projected here?

                Stop using buzzwords, wannabe-intellectuels.

But I mean that shame can be shared now

Yes, and…? What does that have to do with psychological projection? Almost as if you didn’t actually understand the word and wanted to seem smarter than you are, isn’t it?

Hey, so I’ve got no horse in this race and also not a native English speaker so please bear with me.

To me the op’s statement sounds ironic, but not really a projection. According to google, to project is to unconsciously attribute your thoughts/feelings onto someone else. Like if you’re having an argument and you’re losing and as a self defense you claim that the other party is angry and or unreasonable or whatever.

In this case the cybertruck owner says the guy shaming him should be shamed. He doesn’t realise that it’s him who should feel shame, so it’s ironic.

Am I missing something? Or was it all just some joke and I’m just overthinking it?

Or is the guy being downvoted because he’s being an ass, not because he’s wrong?

“You have to be trolling” is rather in the same category as “do your own research”.

You’re just not able to verbalise what you meant, because the original person didn’t mean anything and was using buzzwords to appear smart.
