    The costs of complying with GDPR, for example, are estimated to have reduced profits for small European tech firms by up to 12 per cent.

    Hmm, much lower for the company I work for. Guess what? Treating user data with respect really lowers the barrier. Who would have thunk.

    Or in other words, if you need GDPR to tell you not to mine every single piece of information about a user without asking, you deserve a 12% profit cut.
