Do progress updates, or even ideation posts, fit this community?

Motivations:

  • I don’t ton of free time, which means when I finally finish something I’m much more likely to share the end result and not get into the details that eventually got me there. IMO the details, especially the failures along the way, are a lot more interesting than just the result and provide more opportunity for teaching/learning
  • Big projects can be daunting. Talking about the journey will help others be more willing to set off on their own journey

I wanted this without knowing I wanted it, it makes so much sense.
It would make this community much more interesting to me than it already is, what a great idea!

I think that’d fit this community, everyone who makes stuff knows it’s never the straightforward path we think it is to start.

It’s aways something that we could split into another community if it starts being to much, but I think at this point the more making posts, the better!

I have to tell myself constantly that progress made is still made. I want to hear about the magic, the misses, and the “I used my ultrasonic cleaner on my snowblower’s carburetor and now it shoots a pinhole amount of gas out of the side” moments!

Totally agree! Let’s celebrate the journey and not just the destination. Oftentimes, the journey is more interesting and you might not ever make it to the destination.

I would be happy to include updates on whatever electronic doohickies I am fiddling with. Usually it’s mechanical keyboards, but not always. I wanted a new weather clock but then I just repurposed a 12 year old ipad instead. I was very proud.
